What about “kill them wherever you find them” (Quran 2:191, 4:89, and 9:5)? What about “strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah” (Quran 8:60)?
But I commend Sam Newhouse for including my remarks without the usual nasty editorializing that accompanies quotes from me in mainstream media outlets.

“Kenney under fire from conservatives after Islam comments,” by Sam Newhouse, Metro.us, January 12, 2016:
In his first week in office, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney dealt with every mayor’s worst nightmare — a cop being shot.
In his second week, Kenney has become a national punching bag — at least, in conservative media outlets — for his widely reported comments that the actions of shooter Edward Archer, who said he was inspired by ISIS to attempt to kill officer Jesse Hartnett, had nothing to do with Islam.

“In no way shape or form does anyone in this room believe that Islam or the teaching of Islam has anything to do with what you’ve seen on the screen,” Kenney told media at a press conference Friday. “It is terrible and it does not represent the religion or any of its teachings. This is a criminal with a stolen gun who tried to kill one of our officers.”
But Police Commissioner Richard Ross had apparently contradicted those statements moments earlier when he said Archer told police he attacked Hartnett out of loyalty to ISIS and because police officers were violating the laws of Islam. Police and the FBI continue to investigate an unverified tip that Archer was a member of a group with three other members who still pose a risk to police.
Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio pounced on Kenney’s comments at a campaign stop Saturday, calling him “delusional” and bashing Democrats in general for avoiding using the phrase “radical Islamic terrorist.”
“The mayor of Philadelphia — who I know nothing about other than the fact that he’s delusional — said this has nothing to do with ISIS or Islam; this is because there are too many guns in the street,” Rubio said, according to CNN.
Kenney responded to Rubio in a statement, “I stand by what I said: this criminal is not representative of Islam. Period. I think candidates for office, particularly for president, should not demonize an entire group of Americans because of the actions of violent criminals with deranged views of Islam. … Show some class and dignity when you are running for the highest office in the land.”
Kenney’s spokeswoman Lauren Hitt indicated via email that Kenney is done defending his comments.
“We haven’t released any ‘clarifying’ statements because what the mayor said doesn’t need to be clarified,” Hitt wrote.
“The acts of this criminal, regardless of whether or not the FBI finds that he was connected to a larger terrorist group, have nothing to do with Islam. There is nothing in the Quran that promotes terrorism or violent acts of this nature. This deplorable excuse for a human being and any others who invoke Allah to explain their violent actions have a deranged, inaccurate understanding of Islam,” she continued.
“It was Mayor Kenney’s most basic responsibility to stand up at Friday’s press conference and both praise the extremely heroic actions of this offer and also remind all Philadelphians that, regardless of what this criminal said, he is not representative of Islam. We cannot scapegoat the 25 percent of Philadelphians who practice Islam because of this criminal’s horrific actions and even more disgusting explanation of why he did it. They are our neighbors.”
But in the meantime, more and more conservative pundits are lining up to take swings at Kenney, and show no signs of slowing down.
He was bashed by conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, who called him a “Looney Tune mayor” and an “idiot.” His words are also the subject of a critical Wall Street Journal column published Tuesday.
“The mayor’s comments, so bizarre in their determined denial of the deluge of facts delivered by top police officials standing next to him, were, nonetheless, familiar enough,” columnist Dorothy Rabinowitz wrote. “Americans have learned to expect, after every Islamist terror attack, lectures instructing them that such assaults should in no way be connected to Islamic faith of any kind.”
Kenney’s comments seem to have touched a nerve — particularly with right-leaning media, where a common theme is the alleged concealment by liberal leaders and mainstream media of crimes committed by Muslims.
Pamela Geller, president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative and leader of Stop Islamization of America, said of Kenney’s argument that the Muslim faith and the actions of Archer were separate, “That distinction is not possible. If Islamic texts and teachings inspired him, how could Islam not be responsible?”
“Kenney, like virtually every other public official these days, seems to think it’s his duty to cover for Islam and make sure no one thinks ill of it, no matter how high the stack of bodies of jihad victims gets,” Geller said via email. “Kenney may not be stopping police from releasing details related to Islam about the case, but he is seriously derelict in his duty in not investigating what is being taught at Archer’s mosque, and closing it down if it is found to be encouraging violence and sedition.”
The attacks have become sufficiently widespread that they drew a defense Tuesday morning from City Council President Darrell Clarke, who denounced the criticism as “hateful comments.”
“As good neighbors and citizens, Philadelphia’s Muslim leaders were quick to condemn the violent assault on Officer Hartnett,” Clarke said in a statement. “Mayor Kenney’s call for tolerance following last week’s hateful act is perfectly appropriate.”
He continued, “If Edward Archer’s claims are true, he would join a growing line of hateful outliers who seek to justify their violent acts through a perverted interpretation of Islam. While law enforcement officials continue to investigate this incident, we should act responsibly and refrain from jumping to conclusions, and instead direct our energy toward wishing Officer Jesse Hartnett a speedy and complete recovery.”
In an editorial, the South Jersey Times took the middle ground — defending Kenney’s comments, but criticizing him for dismissing Archer’s own declarations of ties to Islam.
“It’s one thing — and the right thing — for Kenney to say that the great majority of Philadelphia-area Muslims have condemned the attack on the officer and can’t find a single place in the Koran that justifies it,” the editorial said.
“But to classify the incident as a lone-wolf act of a street criminal marginalizes the real possibility that a loose confederation of ISIS followers are actively trying to kill city cops. However small the group is, and however warped its interpretation of the Muslim faith might be, violent acts in the name of those warped values are, indeed, terrorism.”

I’d love to see one democrat ever, defend law abiding gun owners the same way. We don’t like to be painted with a broad brush after some lone wolf criminal, who is not representative of the rest of us, does a horrible crime. I couldn’t help but substitute “gun owners” for Islam in his statements.
Of course if he said it about gun owners, it would be true. Saying it about Islam is the height of irony.

These public officials always proclaim so confidently that these actions have “nothing to do with Islam.” How do they know?? Have they actually taken the time to read the Qu’ran? Obviously not. Don’t they ever wonder how this one particular religion is constantly misunderstood and how jihadists always come up with some “warped interpretation of Islam?” The denial of reality is just unreal.

They already have long ago– that’s why they put Wolf (in sheep’s clothing) in Harrisburg . Mayor Rizzo was the last mayor (another great member of World War II’s Greatest Generation gone to Our Lord)– who tried to contain the waste and halt the crime—and that was back in the 1970’s. Every mayor since then has basically been a devil worshiper trying to steal money from the taxpayers in the rest of the state to pretend to “balance” Phila’s budget and squander more money per student than many suburbs have (if you count what the federal government forks over to them to get their vote) in its failing, dangerous crime-infested school system.

He relies on his assumptions, which are mistaken, not on knowledge.

Pamela’s suggestion, to investigate the mosque, is welcome.
The article leaves out the FACT that the Imam denied knowing the shooter to police on the day of the shooting, only admitting it AFTER witnesses from the mosque confirmed he was a regular.
Otherwise, the phrase “radical islamic terrorist” appears in PRINT–BRAVO!
What we need to achieve is that the press, the leadership, and the public equate Right wing Extremists like Skinheads and Nazis with Radical Islamic Terrorists. They are cut from the same cloth and BOTH are not welcome.

The Philly mayor/politician is just a typical person on the left who makes up stuff about Islam and assumes that like him no one else has actually read the Koran either. I’ve seen this logic in comment sections on line: if there is one God and Islam believes in one God then Islam must be worshipping the same God and therefore all the religions are basically the same.
Most unaware people have no idea that Islam has a jihad doctrine. Probably lots of Muslims don’t really know it either until they get deep into Koran study. The question for me is why do some commit to jihad while the majority don’t? Some choose to reinterpret jihad to making sure they don’t burn the toast, etc. Is there a distinguishing factor? Are they just malcontents? Or is it genuine religious commitment? Or is it a political aspiration for power?

Pamela Geller is a gift to us. She challenges believers in the Koran constantly and I’ve never heard a Muslim who can win an argument with her. The Koran allows these attacks, how can anyone claim to be a “moderate, peaceful” muslim?

Are this mayor and the City Council President, Darrell Clarke, experts in Islam or of The Quaran, seeing that they both feel qualified to speak for Islam and to relate what Islam does or does not teach? The leader of ISIS is a devout Muslim who holds both a Masters and a PhD in Islamic Studies. *He* is an expert in Islam and he understands, follows, teaches and promotes Pure Islam right out of The Quran, which is why ISIS and that accused man in Philadelphia are passionate in their cause.This is NOT to say that ALL Muslims are interested in being part of ISIS or in doing what The Quran or ISIS calls on all Muslims to do. But to pretend that those who follow ISIS are not obeying the Quaran and are not following Pure Islam, even when they openly and proudly declare as much, is wrong and is deceitful, neither of which bothers this mayor or the City Council President.

After this new year it became very clear for even the most denying of deniers, that our West-European governments will let muslims rape our woman and children to spread their seed with their blessings and being protected by the police as their henchmen, citizen vigilante groups are starting to grow.

Sharia law observant Muslims are what they are, and what they expect every Muslim to be, because if you don’t honor Sharia Law, you aren’t a true Muslim.
The same is true for the U.S. Constitution. If you honor it, you will follow it, and expect every person in the US to honor it, and abide by it also. Anyone who doesn’t is a traitor, not a true American to this nation. That is why Muslims have no place here, because you can’t honor the U.S. Constitution, and Sharia Law. They are not compatible. I live in Philly and I am not aware of a single muzzie condemning this attack. When and where did this take place? The vast majority of them condemned this? Did I miss something. As soon as this story broke I called a spade a spade and was jumped on by a few co-workers, “you don’t know that, you can’t just say that” well I did and I was right. Of course the usual crap followed, the iman, I don’t know him, or, he was a quiet gentle man, He never showed any signs that he was a radical, He was mentally ill, etc. etc. etc. As I always say, simply stated, islam=submit or die!

I can sort of almost understand these politicians not wanting to antagonize the Muslim demographic, but instead of insulting everyone’s intelligence by making idiotic claims that Islam had nothing to do with it, maybe they should consider just keeping their mouths shut about it. There was no need for him to even mention Islam if he’s that concerned about it being associated with such acts. He may have been criticized for that as well, but at least it’s better than spewing such dishonest drivel.
