UAE deports 2 Kerala men for pro-IS comments on Faceb

Two men from Kerala who posted pro-Islamic State (IS) comments on Facebook have been deported by the United Arab Emirates, reports said Thursday.

The Malayala Manorama reported, quoting unnamed sources that UAE decided to act against them because the posts indicated they have been radicalised.

The men were not arrested by authorities in Abu Dhabi nor their names revealed. They were deported to Kochi on August 29 after being put through counselling sessions.

The report said the two were from a group of 10 Indians who were under observation by the UAE government for their pro-IS stand on social media.

None of them were however found to have travelled outside the UAE to join pro-IS organisations or troops.

India and the UAE had agreed to make coordinated efforts to combat extremism when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the country last month.
