Why Californian's Use a REALTOR®

By
Education & Training with Retired Executive Director of Education at eXp Non-Licensed

There’s a variety of really good reasons to use a real estate agent “REALTOR®” when buying or selling your home.

We just purchased our 5th home and have never bought or sold any property or home without an agent to represent us.  Some may think that by not using a real estate agent they will save money, but the truth is that not using an agent can actually cost you much more.  Good agents have knowledge you don't, and that's power!

Take a look at the info-graphic provided by the California Association of REALTORS® which states that 91% of Californians used a REALTOR® in 2013 and shows why.  I'm curious what the info-graphic looks like in your state?

Real Estate Agents know a lot of people and how the process works.

Agents can help qualify buyers and then sell your house accordingly. They will advertise for you and this is a huge help. It speeds up the entire process. When buying or selling a house, using a REALTOR® can help save you time and money too. You can utilize the their expertise and experience to help you buy or sell at a "fair-market" selling price.

Every local market across the Country has a different and unique demographic. Make sure you find an agent that knows your local market and pricing, has experience working with both buyers and sellers, and most importantly... understands your needs and displays an obvious desire to exceed your expectations. We did every time, and it was always worth the price.

Liked your stats, need to keep them handy for the internet real estate companies that only provide the service of getting the lising in the MLS and real estate web sites.  I always do much  more than that for my listings!

Hi Brad, I disagree with one of your commenters, it does not say it all. I think the most important thing an agent does is to shepherd the deal through escrow to closing. Most deals that fail, fail because "issues" come up during the process that need the special care of an agent.

Hey Bill - with all due respect, I don't think Li's comment was really elaborating on the details of a transaction, I read it more like "Having an Agent" says it all. Interpretation is everything right?  lol~

Every transaction is different and unique. There are so many people involved: the buyer, the seller, their agents, the lender, the inspectors, appraisers, title and escrow people, the tax man etc. and the list goes on...

I like your comment of "shepherd the deal" as that's truly the glue that holds it all together. Nobody wants to fly a plane without an air traffic controller right?  :-)

Brad, love the graphic and I think that communication in so many different ways could be its own category as well as interpreting data that we all have access to.

Kelly - I totally agree about communication, it's the most important piece of the puzzle, and I think that goes for almost any business. Regarding data and interpretation, big pieces and parts of the puzzle as well. :)

Brad,

It is nice to see that 91% of buyers in California are utilizing the services of realtors. To be competitive in this seller's market, buyers must have all the assistance they can on their corner.
