Today’s Swagbucks success story is from Lori:
I have been using Swagbucks for a few years now, but for much of that time, I wasn’t hardcore about it. I would watch a video here and there and get a few bucks a day for searching.
However, when I decided that I wanted to save up my Swagbucks for Amazon gift cards to purchase a carpet cleaner, I decided to invest at least one hour a day into it, sometimes even more time at night when the kids were in bed.
Some of the fastest ways to earn Swagbucks were:
- Complete Surveys – I would aim to complete one or two a day. Most surveys are worth at least 50 Swagbucks.
- Swagbucks Mobile TV – I downloaded the app on my smartphone and would run the mobile tv until I reached my daily 50 points limit.
- Watch Swagbucks TV – I would watch videos at night.
- Print all coupons from coupons.com thru Swagbucks – you earn 10 bucks every time a coupon is redeemed.
- Daily Meter Goal – Swagbucks has a reward program where you have a daily goal and if you meet that goal daily for a week, a month, etc, you earn an extra bonus. For example, if I met my daily goal 30 days in a row, I would earn a monthly bonus of 300-500 extra Swagbucks.
There are so many ways to earn on Swagbucks and with putting in an hour every day, it didn’t take me long to earn enough to pay for our brand-new carpet cleaner!
This year, I am saving up for Christmas — my goal is to not spend any money on Christmas gifts!

I try to do surveys every day, too. But, I often don’t qualify for any of them. It seems great to do so many, but I haven’t found that it’s possible every day. They are looking for people in different demographics.
Shelly says
I do the poll each day and search. I usually earn about one gift card a month. Maybe I need to look into the surveys too.

So I just started swagbucks and am real pumped about it! The only thing that was listed here I am having problems with is the surveys….I NEVER QUALIFY!!!!!! I am tired of dealing with them. Otherwise, I am just hoping I can get some Amazon gift cards for my daughters new backpack she wants for school! Thanks for the inspiration!

Wow!! I have been happy getting gift cards to CVS, but now I see I need to set my sights higher. Thanks for motivating me to put in more time on Swagbucks!!! I am happy with the gift cards that I have earned, but a carpet cleaner would really be nice!!!
lori says
How did you bank enough gift cards to redeem for a carpet cleaner? I thought that there was some sort of limit on the number of gift cards you could redeem per month?
Also, what is the difference between swagbuck mobile tv and swagbuck videos?
Thanks a bunch. I’m new to this swag bucks thing. I’ve purchased 3 $5 amazon cards so far. Just put in my order for my 4th card. I’ve been printing out coupons from the swagbucks page too, but none of those have “hit” as yet. We’ll soon see if they amount to much.
Crystal says
There used to be a limit of 5 of the same gift cards from Amazon in one month, but they’ve now lifted that and it’s just a limit of two gift cards per day. You can combine as many Amazon gift cards together as you’d like.
lori says
Thanks Crystal. That’s good to know.
Kimber says
I believe the $5 Amazon gift card still has a limit of 5 per month, since it’s at a discounted rate. (After I ordered 5 last month and tried for a 6th, I got a message saying I had hit my limit.)
Brenda says
Yes, the 5 per month limit is still in place. I usually just order my limit of 5 Amazon cards the first few days of the month and then work on getting a $25 Paypal credit. Paypal does cost more points than Amazon gift cards but I don’t like to carry high point totals indefinitely because of the limits. I usually earn a total of $50-$60 dollars a month between both of them.
Michelle says
What do you mean by “limits?” I’ve also been wondering if it is worth getting the Paypal credit. What are people who get that using it for? I don’t think I’ve shopped many places using Paypal. Thanks!
Brenda says
Sorry I didn’t respond quicker to your comment!
Swagbucks has a limit of 5 Amazon gift cards that a person can request in 1 month. The Paypal credit is just like cash. Once you have a Paypal account you can either leave the money in the online account to use for online purchases or you can have it transferred to your bank account. I usually get a combination of Amazon gift cards and Paypal credits each month because I earn more points than I’m allowed to used for Amazon gift cards. The Paypal credit costs more but I prefer to cash out my points as soon as I can.

Just out of curiosity once you amped up your swagbucking how long did it take you to reach your goal… and what was the cost of the carpet cleaner?
lori s says
It took me about 4 months to save up. It cost me $170 for the cleaner.

I love it! I use my Swagbucks to get Christmas presents, birthday presents, and CVS gift cards for my diaper deals. Just this morning, I cashed in Swagbucks Amazon cards and Amazon cards from another point-earning program and bought a new breast pump for $108. The week before, I ordered my husband’s annual birthday present of sneakers paid for with points from Swagbucks and other programs. I have a few more Swagbuck goals for the baby and after that my points will go back to CVS cards for diapers and Amazon cards for Christmas. Another way I earn points is by using a Chase Amazon credit card. I know many people are cash only and respect that, but I like to pay for gas, groceries, etc. and then pay weekly. I earned $4 in points last month – on a tight budget. It all adds up for Christmas. 🙂

I love Swagbucks but I wish I could receive real money instead of points! With this points you never really know how much the action you just did really worth.
Crystal says
You can use it for Paypal cash, but it’s not quite as great of a deal as the Amazon cards.
Anne says
Is it really safe to do the surveys? They ask for A LOT of personal information like date of birth and home address.
Amie says
I’ve only encountered a few surveys that ask for my address and I don’t do those. Most just ask for demographics… age or DOB, # and ages of kids, income level, race, etc.
Anne says
Thanks, Amie! Every survey I’ve been offered has asked for DOB and address but I’ve only been on since last week. I am glad to know there will be others!
Lori S says
crystal, I sent you a message via your website and facebook. Can you check that you got them? Thanks!
Crystal says
Got it and just emailed you. It looks like you didn’t get my email yesterday, so let me know if you didn’t get that one either.
Amie says
You could always look up the point total of the gift card you want and do the math. For example, if I want an Amazon card for $5, it is 450 points. I can then decide how much effort I want to put into it. 90 points is $1 in Amazon.com money. It is my opinion that Swagbucks makes the most sense to do when you have downtime like watching tv or if you can do surveys before you go to bed or watch videos when folding laundry. I can easily earn a gift card per week or so with very little effort or time.
Victoria says
Wow! I am so inspired by how much effort and focus people put into earning their swagbucks. I just do the daily poll and the NOSO as well as searching through their homepage (which is my homepage) and shopping online through their program. This earns me around $5 to $10 a month average in either Amazon or Starbucks cards. Still I get such a thrill cashing in my points for cards.
